Q: How do I get started on Future College Fund?

A: You start by signing up to create a Future College Fund campaign for your child. Your campaign can include photos of your child as well as their dreams and goals for the future. Once you’ve completed the campaign, you can share the link with your family and friends. They can donate any amount they choose using a debit or credit card through your link. Once a donation is made, the money will automatically be deposited into your PayPal account in real-time.

Q: How does Future College Fund Work?

A: Future College Fund works through a patent-pending technology that utilizes the power of crowd funding to help you save for your child’s future. Family and friends will donate any amount of money at the Future College Fund link you provide. That donation is deposited directly into your PayPal account. We do not touch any of the money donated to your campaign. Once the donation appears in the PayPal account, you can transfer it to the savings account you have set up to keep your child’s college fund safe and secure.

Q: How do I receive a donation?

A: Every donation made on your campaign’s page is automatically routed straight to your PayPal account. You can easily transfer the donation from PayPal to the account you have designated for your child’s college savings. We make it flexible and easy to suit what is best for you and your family.

Q: Do my donors need an account?

A: No, your donors do not need a Future College Fund or PayPal account. Donors can simply visit your campaign link and make their donations using a debit or credit card through PayPal.

Q: Will Future College Fund charge me any fees?

A: Future College Fund automatically deducts a seven percent fee from each donation. If you do not receive any donations, you do not have to pay anything to Future College Fund. Because our fee is deducted from donations in real-time, neither you nor your donors will ever be billed or charged at a later date.

Q: How are payments processed?

A: For US users, you must first sign up for an account with Future College Fund. Once your account is set up, you can link it to your PayPal account. PayPal charges a fee of 2.9 percent plus $0.30 per transaction if not specified as a “gift” or withdrawn from your PayPal balance (See PayPal’s fees).  All payments you receive through Future College Fund will immediately appear inside of your PayPal account and added to the total balance of your goal on your campaign.

Q: Why wouldn’t I just use my own online payment service?

A: Future College Fund gives you more than just a way to raise money. It utilizes the power of crowd funding to continuously help you raise more money with beautifully designed, personalized donation pages and powerful sharing capabilities that you just can’t get with an online payment service.

Q: Are there limits to how much money I can raise?

A: Future college fund users can raise as much money as they want; there are no limits.

Q: Can I share my campaign link on social media sites?

A: Of course! Future College Fund makes it easy to share your campaign with your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, when someone donates to your campaign, he or she has the option of posting about the donation on his or her own social media accounts, which can help you attract even more donors.

Q: How will I know when people donate?

A: We will send you an email each time someone submits a donation to your page. After you receive the email, the donation amount will appear on your Future College Fund campaign page and will be added to your overall balance.

Q: How do I know it is safe to donate to a Future College Fund campaign?

A: All payments submitted to a Future College Fund campaign are securely processed by PayPal using industry-standard Secure Socket Layer encryption, or SSL. PayPal is the trusted industry leader for secure online payments. Future College Fund is also SSL encrypted, as an additional security measure. Because the money is directly deposited into users’ PayPal accounts for them to access, we recommend only donating to people you personally know and trust. When in doubt, report any suspicious pages or activity to our team.

Q: What countries and currencies are supported by Future College Fund?

A: At this time, Future College Fund only supports users in the United States of America using USD currency, or US dollars.

Q: When will my page appear in Future College Fund’s search results?

A: The Future College Fund team must manually approve your future College Fund campaign before it can appear in our public search directory. It may take up to 72 hours for your page to be approved. If there is an issue with your campaign, we will alert you right away with any changes that need to be made.

Q: What kind of savings account should I use for my child’s college fund?

A: While we encourage you to pick whatever kind of account works best for your family’s needs, we do recommend starting a 529-college savings account. If you do not already have a 529 account and would like help in setting one up, you may contact us and we will connect you with a financial advisor who can work with you to determine the best type of account for your family. If you have questions about how to transfer your funds from your PayPal account directly to your 529 account, let us know and we will be happy to help you.

Q: Do I need a 529 account to use Future College Fund?

A: Though we recommend setting up a 529 account, it is not necessary for your Future College Fund campaign. All donations are deposited into your PayPal account and held there until you transfer the funds to the account you have designated for your child’s college fund. We are flexible so that you can make the best financial decision for your family without limits or restrictions.

Q: Can I donate to my own campaign?

A: Future College Fund gives your friends and family the opportunity to contribute to your child’s college fund. You can certainly contribute to your child’s college fund on your own, without going through Future College Fund and paying our seven percent fee. However, if you would still like to donate to your campaign through Future College Fund, you can do so by paying with a debit or credit card. Please note, you should not be signed into your PayPal account while you make the donation.

Q: Does the PayPal account need to be in the child’s name or the parent’s?

A: The PayPal account you link to your Future College Fund campaign should be in the parent or legal guardian’s name so that you can manage the account for the beneficiary. However, you can be your own beneficiary if you are 18 or older.

Q: How do I cancel my campaign?

A: Your campaign will run until its designated end date. However, if you would like to end your campaign early, please Contact Us directly at info@futurecollegefund.com.
